We woke up in a cloud. Fog misted all around us soaking the large pine trees overhead. When a strong breeze came by it rustled the branches making rain drops fall on the tent. My headlamp beamed outside of the tent in the dark morning light, highlighting all the water vapor ebbing and flowing through the air in a termultuois mist. Getting packed up wasnt easy.

We hiked in the fog for several hours. It was the type of weather best suited for a Sunday morning sleeping in and watching television while sipping a nice hot cup of coffee. But not for us. We were hiking in the clouds and getting misted, like a car getting one of those automatic car washes.

The clouds broke eventually leading to bright blue skies. The rest of the walking for the day was rather boring and flat. Perhaps we got a taste today of what Oregon will likely be like the rest of the way- unexciting.
