PCT: Day 109

August 7th, 2016

Miles Hiked: 4

Start Location: Mile 1712

End Location: Mile 1716

We hiked a quick and cool 4 miles to Callahans lodge, a resort like place near Interstate 5. We grabbed some breakfast and then hitch hiked to Ashland where we had booked a hotel room for the night.

Ashland is a really neat town. On our walk towards downtown a guy named Lint stopped and gave us a ride. He has hiked the AT, PCT and CDT three times each. He now lives in Ashland and runs ultras. We chatted about running and thru hiking and living in Ashland. Apparently there is a huge ultrarunning community there. Talking with him made me miss running.

We spent the evening watching the Olympics. It amazes me how over dramatized the prime time coverage is. They spend more time  talking about the USA athletes backstory than they do broadcasting actual events. You can’t watch any sport these days without having some sort of narrative to go with it.
