Good and pleasent day hiking, albeit some chaffing issues that Carolyn was unfortunately dealing with. There were a lot of hikers that we saw today on trail. We must be in some sort of bubble. I don’t like it.
We thought that today was going to be our last in California. The border was about 24 miles away from where we camped. An afternoon thunderstorm prompted us to stop a little early. The clouds were dark as night and thunder boomed boastfully through the sky in handfuls. We decided to stop a mile short of the border and set up camp in case the sky opened up. It was nearing the end of the day for us anyway so it wasn’t a big deal. It never did rain.
Oregon can wait for us one more day. The thought of crossing the border in a thunderstorm was foreboding. It isn’t how I want to start Oregon. We will pass through under clear and beautiful skies tommorrow.
