An unplanned longest day yet. Carolyn’s foot seems to be at a maneagable level but still isn’t quite right. She says it feels like a paper cut sometimes and sometimes like a piece of glass is stuck in her foot. She was a trooper for putting in these miles today.

We wanted to stop 3.5 miles sooner but there was no place to camp. The campsite listed on the map was very small and there were hikers already occupying it when we got there. We kept hiking on in the twighlight hours as the forest slowly dimmed. We came to another listed site only to find that one also fully occupied. I started to get aggravated at this point.  We finally found a spot with about 3 other tents and they helpfully let us squish in between them as it was starting to get grey at 8:45. So that’s how we did our biggest day yet- out of necessity. We’ve been lucky with sites so far and it was only a matter of time before this happened. It’s a crummy feeling getting to your end destination for the day only to find out you have to hike more…

A Tree Welcoming the Sun
Fuzz Ball
Mt. Shasta Again. Its so cool!
Solid Rock
I hope that Carolyn’s foot feels better tomorrow ?. We will most likely NOT be hiking 27 more miles tommorrow ?.
