We woke up after another pleasent night’s rest in the VIP suite not knowing whether we should spend another night in town or get back to the trail. We are meeting up with my sister Gina and her fiancĂ© Danny July 1st, so there is no rush as we must average only 15 miles per day to get to Ebbits Pass on time for them to pick us up.
We meandered around and went to the continental breakfast again, stuffing our faces with everything bagels and yogurt and fruit. In the guidebook it said there was a hostel in town for 20 dollars, so we checked out around 10 AM with the intent to zero again and spend the night in a bunk bed.
When we got to the hostel it turned out the price was actually 35 a person for a bunk- quite steep for a hostel. We decided to instead linger in town and then get the bus back to Reds Meadow after a visit to the Mammoth Brewery and Mexican food.
We hiked a quick 5 miles and are camped next to a swiftly flowing river. I’m glad we decided to get back on trail today. The bus takes a long time and it would have been a lot trying to do the bus tommorrow and put in some decent miles.
