Today was much better on the nerves. We went up and over Muir Pass and did not feel like we were going to die during any part of it. It was actually a lot of fun traversing the snow since it was not steep.
On top of Muir Pass there is an awsome stone hut made in memory of John Muir. Going down the pass takes you through a bowl of sorts that still has a lot of snow. It took us 4.5 miles of walking through snow to finally get out of it. It was a nice mashed potato consistency and was actually kind of fun to walk through.
We decended down back into the trees and are camping just under 11K feet. Two more days until we get to Vermillion Valley Resort where we have a drop box waiting for us. It’s been quite an adventure these last 4 days- a lot of ups and downs both emotionally and with all these passes. I feel a great sense of accomplishment having done all these passes and Im proud of Carolyn for putting her fears aside and getting through this difficult but beautiful stretch.
