The flights went a little better this time around, minus the one hour we spent sitting on the plane before it took off due to a mechanical issue (not something you want to hear).
We arrived in San Diego unscathed and sat outside for our ride. Around 3 PM Frodo drove up in a soft gold van with a yellow Pom Pom hanging out of the window (the secret code we were told to look for to identify her car). We hopped in and then picked up another woman who was staying at her house that had just finished riding her bike to San Diego from Seattle.
We went back to her home and got the tour by her husband Scout. The couple has been hosting hikers for nearly ten years and their operation is greased and oiled to perfection. They are some of the nicest and most giving people I have ever had the priveledge to meet. They even let us stay in the camper in their drive way. Typically hikers stay under large white tents in there back yard, but they told me they have a soft spot for couples and let them either stay in a private room or the camper.
We had a pleasant evening eating lasagna and meeting everyone else hiking tomorrow. Volunteers will drop off a whopping 17 people at the southern terminus tomorrow! We are beyond excited to just get out there already.
