Low mileage day on account of Carolyn’s foot. We stopped early to let it rest. Hopefully it will be better tommorrow.
It was very hot today, like one of those Excelsior hand driers was blowing on us all day, blasting us with hot and dry air, as if the desert was somehow trapped inside and its fury was raining down upon us. The trend for the next few days is that it will get hotter. This does not appeal to us. Fortunately much of the trail is within the tree canopy where it is shady and cooler, but there are still sections with direct exposure. At least it is a dry heat and not a humid one. Any shady spot is probably 10 degrees if not more cooler.
